A serial killer is torturing women, leaving their bodies a mangled mess of scars and symbols. Special Agents Tom Hardy and Dr. Jan Baker are drawn into the game of cat and mouse as the remaining scientists and soldiers race to develop a solution to locate incoming stolen nuclear materials without alerting their enemies. Little do they know that their opposition is comprised of a deadly cadre of mercenaries, an arms dealer, a rouge IRA agent, an assassin, and a mastermind whose motivations blur the line between terrorist and revolutionary. Review: This movie is full of great action sequences and great performances. I went in to it thinking that it was going to be of the so-bad-its-good club, but the tense, tight action had me on the edge of my seat. The plot was believable and mostly stayed out of the way. The only bad side was the number of villains made the motivations a little hard to follow. The main villain did a great job, however, so it is a minor quibble. Also, the science stuff was a little over done but not so much that it distracted from the main thrust of the movie. I saw the extended version, so some or all of my complaints might have been edited out of the retail version. Final say: you could do much worse with your Saturday night than watching this movie, and it is easily worth the few dollar rental fee.
